In term of size and weight, I have to say if you are looking for a home base use with sometime portable, I think Coby Kyros MID9742-8 is a good choice due to its 16 ounces (around TF300) weight, and for the 4:3 ratio, it may seems weird at the first place but this is the ratio of iPad 3 ! The only downside of 4:3 screen ratio of Coby Kyros MID9742-8 is if you want to use this tablet for movie watching with the widescreen format, you will have to watch them with black bar at the top and bottom, and for ebook reading some believe a 16:9 screen ratio is a better screen proportion for ebook reading (I don’t think so since the 4:3 is a closer size to e-magazine).

But in my opinion, with its 7 inch screen size, Kindle Fire should be use as ebook reader for senior citizen, I think it is too small to read from a 7-inch-screen Kindle Fire, you may say it comes with font size adjustable feature but I think it is not so comfortable to adjust the font size all the time, and also the screen type of Kindle Fire is the LCD screen that not so good for a long term use while Kindle DX Graphite is an e-ink screen that I think by far it is the best screen in Kindle family because it is top of the line ebook reader, the most expensive ebook reader that Amazon has ever released. (but in contrast, if you decided to go with a refurbished Kindle Fire it is only 139 USD vs around 270 USD of used Kindle Fire), So think carefully !

As a whole, I think Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is a great media device, for a budget tablet , it has a good hardware, this is a solid case here, it comes with an SD card slot, the volume rocker, the infrared blaster that could be use as a remote, the dual cameras, and it’s very solid, very sturdy, it meets my expectation of as a budget tablet with a portability, all of the good device for the price !
