Today I’ve got my Kindle Touch wifi delivery and I have to say that I am so happy about this touchscreen ebook reader, but only one thing that disappointed me is Kindle Touch speakers, its volume is too low and I think a better way to enjoy Text-to-Speech feature on this ebook reader is you need to use a headphones for MP3 player and Read-to-Me feature.
This may not big a deal if speakers caused nothing than useless function, but for me, I think how well could it be if Amazon decides to cut Kindle Touch speakers out, because at the moment, I think speakers cause additional weight without any useful function. I like to share this info because I believe there might be someone who thinking about which one to buy Kindle 4 or Touch, I have to say Kindle 4 is noticeable lighter and also easier to use, if you are looking for a simplest ebook reader I think it is the one. But if you are used to a touchscreen feature of modern day mobile phones or tablets, Kindle Touch would be a good choice.
The price of a refurbished Kindle Keyboard 3G, with 20 USD added, you can buy a brand new Kindle Touch 3G sponsored screen saver and home screen, and with 60 USD added, you can buy a new Kindle Touch 3G (at the moment there is not yet released of refurbished Kindle Touch 3G). Or on the other hand, with the same price of a refurbished Kindle Keyboard 3G, you can buy a brand new Kindle Touch with no 3G, if you are in a decision path, you may want to know what is the pros & cons about these e-readers.
In my opinion, in term of hardware specifications, Kindle Touch is a better choice, it comes with up-to-date hardware spec that provides a faster performance, but if you want to use a free 3G globally, that’s another story, because in order to use 3G Kindle Touch, you have to pay around 60 USD more, from a refurbished Kindle 3 (Kindle keyboard)’s price. The interesting thing is, while Kindle Keyboard 3G’s web browser maybe as labeled as acceptable, Kindle Touch’s web browser “Silk” that powered by Cloud computing has been labeling as “great”. Or on the other hand, you may use a refurbished Kindle 3 as use free 3G web browsing device, but it may not as good as Kindle Touch which is 60 USD more expensive, or if you decided to go with Kindle Touch wifi that is cheaper, you cannot use it as a free 3G web browsing device !
I think you may need to think carefully, what is your priority ? Ebook reading or web browsing, if ebook reading is a first priority, I think you should go with Kindle Touch sponsored screen (or a regular one with 149 USD, almost the same price of a refurbished Kindle 3).
Since Kindle Touch available for international order. I have ask myself (again !), which ereader is a better choice ? Amazon’s top of the line ebook reader or Touch killer : Sony Reader wifi with more functions. And here is my final verdict for these two ebook readers for international orders.
No matter what, buy an ebook reader from a seller that also provides online ebook store is a better choice, you may say, with Sony Reader wifi, you can also use Kindle app for Android to buy Kindle books, and that’s true, but I don’t think Kindle app will provide a full functions like Kindle Touch would offers, such as X-Ray and Text to Speech.
The downside of Sony online Reader store is its limitation, you cannot buy ebook from different online store, if you live in U.S., the only place to buy Sony Reader ebook is from U.S. store, you cannot buy it from other Reader stores. I think this may create a problem with international reader, since english is not a native language, I believe if there are another languages ebook available, ereader owners should have a right to buy from any store they want. While with Amazon, I think it is easier, you can buy all ebooks that available on Amazon, worldwide.
So, if you can handle a ebook providing such as you know where to buy it, or where to download ebooks, I think Sony Reader wifi maybe a better choice, considered on its price and feature, but if you are a tech-newbie like me, I think Kindle Touch wifi international is a better choice. (or if you are thinking about something cheaper, try Kindle 4, it is simplest ereader ever)
